Virtualization is a technique that simulates the physical characteristics of computing resources to consolidate the way systems, applications, or end users interact with those resources Virtualization lets a single physical resource (such as a server) appear as multiple logical resources; or making multiple physical resources to appear as a single logical resource. The diagram below illustrated the process of Virtualizing a physical server to perform the jobs of what would have required 6 physical servers:
